Responding to Inappropriate Language Directed at Coaches with Paula Gamble – Pflugerville ISD (TX)

December 21, 2023 • By Texas High School Athletic Directors Association

Paula Gamble discusses how she deals with inappropriate language at live athletic events. She explains the anticipated crowd size will determine the number of school administrators attending an event. If a spectator or parent is using inappropriate language at an event, then it must be addressed. An administrator will go and stand by that person and try to de-escalate the situation. In certain circumstances she will ask parents to meet with her at her office and discuss the issues they have with the coaches or staff.
