Not achieving in any form of athletics may be considered a failure and that attitude needs to change as Dr. Hacker believes there is nobility in the struggle. She explains the performance gap in that athletes must realize where they are at now but realistically understand where they can be and identify the steps to reach their goals.
Dr. Colleen Hacker is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Sport, and Performance Psychology at Pacific Lutheran University and has served as a member of the Team USA coaching staff for six Olympic Games as a Mental Skills Coach and Performance Psychology Specialist.
