Watch as Coach Alex Atkins explains that Gallop Blocking is for man-attack defensive players and not players in the gap. When a man-attack defender is attacking to avoid a combo block that is the time to use Gallop. Coach explains the steps, aiming point and hand placement, then shows practice clips of a defensive tackle attacking an offensive player. The guard wants to gain ground with the 1st step and uses the power of the back leg to go through the hip to knock it over. If the guard does not knock the defender over, he must snap his eyes and protect the a gap.
