Watch as Coach explains, and long jumpers demonstrate these short-approach jump box drills using a box that is 2 to 5 inches in height. Coach wants jumpers to think of the board as the starting line and focus on splitting through the board as the foot starts to angle and moves completely through takeoff with an extension of the toe. Transferring speed to the end of their jump is the key to a quality long jump.
