Number of Players: Six or more

Number of Balls: Three or more

Objective: Players focus on reading the attacker, defending, and attacking cross-court.
1
Directions:

  1. Two teams consisting of two hitters and a setter set up on each side of the court, with one hitter located in left front (LF) and the second hitter in left back (LB). The setter (S1) is located in right front.
  2. Divide the court in half the long way via court tape.
  3. The coach (C) tosses a freeball from off-court to the opposite side hitter, who passes to S1. The defending setter (S2) may block the attack while the hitter tries to dig the attack. If the ball is a freeball, the defending team must play the ball regardless of where it goes inbound. If it is a downball, it must be hit cross-court. Despite
  4. At the end of the second rally, the hitters switch positions and the drill is repeated.

Scoring: One point is scored to the winner of the rally from an attack. If blocked by the setter, the team reverts to zero and the blocking team earns a point. A point can only be awarded if the ball is attacked cross-court and lands in the defending zone or it is a freeball that is not played back over the net. Hitting errors do not count unless the ball lands out-of- bounds. Attacks landing in-bounds, but not in the defending zone, are viewed as no score rallies. The first team to five points wins the game.
